if you were to cut neville watson he would bleed acid house, he would also quite likely knock you flat on your arse for having the temerity to wave a knife at him, but thats a whole other story. for his first wu contribution he ventures down the ethereal proto-house boulevard. jacking 707 patterns, a bouncing juno bassline and outer-space synth lines take you into the upper atmosphere for a glorious airborne joyride. as ever, neville manages to evoke those 85-89 feelings without ever sounding merely retro or like some kind of pastiche, something that many attempt but very few manage to pull off. over on side u apiento, the force behind the magisterially brilliant testpressing website, chips in with a heartfelt homage to the new beat sound. another testimony to the fact that a lower tempo doesnt have to mean diminished energy levels, the orange place simply oozes class from top to bottom. like some lost ancienne belgique classic it pounds and pumps along, building up the tension all the while until the quasi- eastern refrain lets loose half way thru and all of a sudden a mystic portal opens up in the space-time continuum that leads all the way to southwark street in late 87.

its been an interesting few years for the one called jakes. from being one of the highest-regarded mcs in the drum and bass world, he took his hand to producing. after creating some of bristols earliest and most seminal dubstep tracks, such as >modem< and >3kout<, his studio skills and style became further embossed. in early 2010 his tracks, >rhythm< and >skanners< spearheaded the productive assault that was the hench mixtape vol. 1. for the next installment of the hench mixture, jakes steps up with a double dose of his signature production style. fasten all loose furniture to the floor and turn up the sub…

after taking a break for more than 6 months bukaddor & fishbeck return with 2 quality tracks. >camino< unites tight and loose aspects in an exciting modern way of club music. the track works on more than one level and incorporates silly little ghosts of sounds and massive basslines and last but not least: a lot of profound sound shaping. >physx< on the b-side is much more warped, moves in way of a snake, does is surreal dreamlike and still makes these brave cuts that throw you back into life. at times this track seems to be quite dadaistic and maybe this accounts for the most experimentell track they have ever released... but it would not bukaddor & fishbeack if this track did not have a atchy clubby side to it.

a1: 2gether - smooth track, perfect for those disco/house sets. chuggs along gently with a tremendous groove, love the vocal and the percussive elements. the loose key riff really adds the finishing touch to this brilliant track!
b1: untitled in a ghetto - the groove is deep in the percussion, a simple bass line and quirky synth hook. when the vocal drops it is the epitome of a cool, down beat track. awesome!
